PACAR Spotlight

ABOUT PACAR.

PACAR stands for Pan African Coalition for Adaptation and Resilience.

The coalition was formed in Arusha -Tanzania in 2023 and has since grown into a powerful, multi-stakeholder platform uniting civil society organizations, technical experts, and community leaders across the continent around a common vision of advancing Africa’s adaptation priorities globally.

In 2025, 5 member organizations were sub granted by Power Shift Africa to implement adaptation projects in selected communities and countries.

In South Africa, Gender CC together with their partners such as, Alexander water warriors are working to transform a polluted river into a thriving ecosystem. In Cameroon, women farmers are growing drought-tolerant crops and feeding their families despite unpredictable rainfall through the interventions of SUHUCAM. In Kenya, through the work of Haki Nawiri Afrika, indigenous seeds that were disappearing are now being preserved in community seed banks. In Ghana, SYND through this subgrant has mobilized and trained young people to contribute to the design and implementation of adaptation policies and programs in their local communities and at the national level while GIFSEP is empowering persons living with Disabilities (PWD’s) to grow their own food through the inclusive urban gardens for adaptation project in Nigeria.
